Students have just completed two big inference units: inference for proportions and inference for means. At this point in the year, they should be very comfortable with the thinking and reasoning behind significance tests. Equipped with this knowledge and a new type of distribution (chi-square), students are generally very successful in this unit (also they just love all the candy).
If you are using TPS 4e, 5e, or Classic 6e and are not planning on following the sequence in the CED, you can simply use Chapter 11 in our 150 Days of AP Stats. This sequence will cover everything in the CED (just in a slightly different sequence).
If you are using TPS 6e UPDATE or want to use the new sequence of topics in the CED, here is your plan:
Lesson Plans for CED Unit 8
Chi-Square Tests
Lessons 12.1 and 12.2 in TPS 6e UPDATE
Day 3: Quiz 12.1
Day 6: Quiz 12.2
Day 7: Review
Day 8: Test
Notice that we decided to test on chi-square only (Lessons 12.1 and 12.2), and to simply give a quiz on inference for slopes (Lesson 12.3).
Students are now ready for the final unit of the course (CED Unit 9) covering inference for slope!
