It has been a busy year at Math Medic as we've worked to update our entire AP Calc AB course. That started with refreshing all the lessons (and writing new ones!) and then building the assessment platform for AP Calculus. We also made videos for every single lesson to help support you and your students in the classroom. We are thrilled to announce that everything you need for AP Calc AB is now available!
Refreshed EFFL Lessons
After sharing our original set of lessons in 2019, we felt it was time for an update. We think you'll love the new changes!
So what’s new about the AP Calc lessons?
Updated contexts – we’ve traded out some previous contexts for ones we think will work better for students
More lessons! Each new concept gets a full EFFL lesson (with plenty of review activities sprinkled in to deepen understanding and build fluency)
More comprehensive Activities, with more explicit connections to the learning targets
Brand new lesson posts with everything you need to know about how to facilitate the Activity, important details about the content, and loads of teaching tips
Updated Check Your Understanding questions that build a bridge between the questions in the Activity and AP-style questions
New review activities
Lesson numbers rather than topic numbers (making it super easy to know what comes next)
Beautiful new graphs everywhere!
One thing that's NOT changing is that lessons will continue to be free, available as editable handouts with answer keys.
Homework, Quizzes, and Tests
If you’re looking to go all in, we now also have homework, quizzes, and tests available through an annual subscription. The Assessment Platform for AP Calculus AB is now available for purchase!
What All Is Included?
The Assessment Platform allows you to:
Get access to pre-made homework, quizzes, and tests perfectly aligned to the Math Medic AP Calculus AB scope and sequence
Modify existing assessments by adding, deleting, or swapping questions
Make multiple versions of quizzes and tests using the “Swap All” feature
Create your own assessments from our bank of high-quality questions
Print assessments or share with students via digital link
All of our questions are perfectly aligned to the Math Medic AP Calculus AB lessons and cover all of the content and themes outlined in the College Board Course and Exam Description, or CED (alignment guide is here). We have written thousands of questions that will help your students develop conceptual understanding, build procedural fluency, and effectively communicate their reasoning.
Building Your Own Assessments
The Assessment Platform features both multiple choice and free response questions and you can easily filter by whether a question is calculator active or inactive. Additionally, all questions are tagged as “Basic”, “Intermediate”, or “Advanced”, giving you the opportunity to customize any assessment to best meet the needs of your students.

Try Out Unit 1 for Free!
And the best news is this: you get all the assessments from Math Medic Unit 1 for FREE! Just make a free Math Medic account (or log-in if you already have one) and you’ll have access to all the homework, quizzes, and tests from Unit 1. Plus, you can test out the features of our platform by building your own assessment.
Here are the three easy steps to accessing the free preview:
Go to portal.mathmedic.com.
Log-in to your Math Medic account if you have one or create a new free account.
Navigate to the "Assessments" tab, and choose AP Calculus.
Video Subscription
Our students are always busy with band, sports, and a variety of field trips. While we would prefer that they could experience the Math Medic lessons in class, we feel the next best option for them is to watch a video about the exact lesson they missed. The Math Medic Video Subscription for AP Calculus AB includes a video for every single EFFL lesson in the course, perfect for students who were absent or those who want extra support. As an added bonus, you can watch the video as part of your own lesson prep to help plan your debrief. Videos can be assigned to students with a classroom code.
All the Unit 1 lesson videos are included as a free preview.
We hope you're as excited as we are for all the new AP Calc AB resources for this fall. Happy New (School) Year!
